En Israël, l&#8217;histoire est parue uniquement dans la presse gaie en hébreu.

Ce qui suit est mon propre récit basé sur la relation personnelle avec l'intéressée.

Une femme transgenre a été gravement blessée dans la nuit du 14 août à Tel-Aviv après qu'un homme aspergea son visage d&#8217;acide. Son oeil droit est atteint de brûlures au troisième degré et a probablement totalement perdu la vue. L'&#339;il gauche a été sérieusement atteint mais apparemment à un degré moindre, bien que les médecins redoutent que sa vue soit affaiblie. Elles également brûlée au visage.

L&#8217;agression a eu lieu à Tel-Barruch, un quartier de commerce sexuel transgenre a Tel-Aviv. Selon la victime, vers 22.00, un utilitaire tout-terrains blanc s'arrêta près d'elle, lorsqu'elle se pencha pour parler au conducteur, il l'aspergea d&#8217;une sorte de liquide. Elle ne s'aperçut pas immédiatement de ce que cela était, jusqu&#8217;à ce sa chemise parte en fumée et sentit que son visage et ses yeux lui brûlaient. L&#8217;agresseur réussit à démarrer en trombe et à s&#8217;enfuir.

C'est l'incident le plus grave d&#8217;une série d&#8217;incidents transphobes et homophobes qui ont eu lieu en Israël ces derniers mois. Il suit trois agressions au couteau ou au poignard de participants à la marche des fiertés de Jérusalem.

La semaine dernière, à Jérusalem, un homme gay a été sauvagement passé à tabac par un groupe d&#8217;adolescents.

Bien qu'il y ait eu par le passé des cas de violence contre les travailleuses du sexe transgenre, ils furent pour l&#8217;essentiel le fait de clients mécontents et n'eurent pas de conséquences notables.

Il s'est écoulé beaucoup de temps avant qu&#8217;une agression transphobe préméditée et commise de sang-froid eût lieu en Israël. Les militantEs transgenres ont demandé que la police renforce ses patrouilles dans le quartier pour y protéger les travailleuses du sexe.

In Israel it appeared on the Hebrew gay press only.

The following is my own report, based on my personal
acquaintance with the person involved.

A transgendered woman was seriously injured on the
night of August 14 in Tel Aviv, after a man splashed
her face with acid. Her right eye sustained third
degree burns and has probably lost sight totally;
the left eye was seriously wounded too, but apparently
to a lesser degree; still, doctors fear its sight will
be impaired. She has burns in her face too.

The attack took place in Tel Baruch, a transgender sex
trade area in Tel Aviv. According to the victim, around
10:00 PM a white pickup stopped next to her. When she
leaned forward to talk with the driver, he splattered
some sort of liquid on her face. She didn't notice at
first what it was, until a couple of seconds later she
realized her shirt was going up in smoke and she felt
her face and eyes burning. The attacker managed to
speed up and drive away.

This is the gravest of a string of homophobic and
transphobic incidents that took place in Israel in
the past few months. It comes in the wake of three
stabbings of participants in the Jerusalem Pride
March.

Last week, in Jerusalem, a gay man was savagely beaten
by a group of teenagers.

Although in the past there have been cases of violence
against transgender sex workers, these have been for
the most part initiated by disgruntled customers and
ended with no remarkable consequences.

It has been a long time since a premeditated,
cold-blooded transphobic attack took place in Israel.
Transgender activists have demanded that the police
reinforce its patrols in the area to protect the sex
workers there.
